Singing in harmony – Walton, Chesterfield

MINERVA WOMEN’S CHORUS started life in November 2015 when a group of friends met to sing for pleasure and to develop technique. With the guidance and inspiration of our Music and Chorus Directors, we have grown and developed a varied repertoire, suitable for a wide audience and which demonstrates the well-blended harmony we set out to achieve.

We sing unaccompanied, usually in four-part harmony. We prepare for 4 – 6 concerts a year and are happy to support local good causes. Our aim is to convey the fun and friendship we enjoy together at rehearsals to our audiences in concerts. We are pleased to perform often in Holymoorside Village Hall.

Our Musical Director, Chris Horn joined us in October 2021. He grew up singing in cathedral choirs and his considerable experience directing and coaching many different singing groups has brought new energy, enthusiasm, and vocal discipline to the chorus. We are delighted that he agreed to lead us.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO JOIN US?

If you love singing, we’d love to hear from you. We are a friendly and supportive group and welcome women in all voice parts with some singing experience. However, you do not need to be able to read music. Sheet copies are always available, although many members learn through audio learning tracks alone. Get in touch to find out more about Minerva and make an appointment to visit us. Our rehearsals are held on Monday evenings 7.30pm – 9.30pm in St. John’s Church. Walton. We look forward to hearing from you.

CAN WE SING FOR YOU?

We like to share our enjoyment of singing together by performing for others. We’ve helped to raise considerable amounts for local charities. If you are considering a possible concert engagement, please contact us, we’d be delighted to arrange a discussion. Please get in touch via our website, where you can read more about us and hear some audio clips.
