Holymoorside & Walton
Situated close to Beeley Moor on the edge of the Peak District National Park, and within a short driving distance of Bakewell and the Chatsworth estate to the west, and Chesterfield to the east, the parish of Holymoorside and Walton covers an area of 1,485 hectares of mainly farm and moorland with the village of Holymoorside at its centre.
The parish of Holymoorside and Walton had, at the last census in 2021, a resident population of 2100 people living in 959 residences.
Holymoorside village hall provides recreational and educational opportunities for the parish with regular classes and activities and is a popular venue for private social events.
“BEE SQUARED” – An exciting project to encourage the planting of wild flower seeds across the community, that will brighten up our local environment and help our bees and other pollinators.
With the March 2023 newsletter we distributed a free packet of wildflower seeds to every household in Holymoorside and Walton (about 1000 packets). There are enough seeds in each packet to make a square meter display of wild flowers – a “Bee Square”.
The interactive map shows those that have already sown and sent us their details.
Holymoorside & Walton Parish Council are very pleased to announce that they have, for the second time, been awarded the Quality Level of the Local Council Award Scheme.
On confirming the award Sue Baxter, National Panel Chairman of the National Association of Local Councils, stated that ‘this is an excellent achievement showing that the council achieves good practice in governance, community engagement and council improvement. Furthermore, the award shows that Holymoorside & Walton Parish Council has gone above and beyond the legal obligations; that they are leading the community and continuously seeking opportunities to improve and develop even further. Therefore the council is to be congratulated immensely’.
